Hi, I’m Sarah and I started on my own fitness journey in 2016 after the birth of my second child. I wanted to share a little about my own story with you because one of my strengths is that I get you! I have been there! So I know exactly how you feel!
I had put on some weight during my pregnancy and when my daughter was around 4 months old I was feeling pretty awful. I didn’t have a great relationship with food or with myself. I hated what I saw in the mirror and my self esteem was at an all time low. I focused solely on scale weight and had spent years following any fad diet that came along.
One day, I decided it was time to start. So I did. I had 2 small children at home so I was exhausted and time was limited. So I started with 30 mins a day. Just moving. I worked out solely at home with minimal equipment. After a few workouts, I gave up! I had to restart twice over before I stuck to it long term! From then on, I never looked back! I took days off, I had great workouts, interrupted workouts and workouts that I barely dragged myself through. It was tough! BUT i never gave up again! I showed up, as often as I could manage and I kept on and on. I took progress pictures, I became part of an online community who spurred me on when I fell and celebrated every small victory. I THREW out my scales!!!!
Over time my goals changed. I didn’t want to be skinny anymore, I wanted to be strong. So I started to lift weights. I didn’t know much about it, but I worked hard. I consistently showed up. Until one day I realised how far I had come. And realised I wanted to learn more and then share my knowledge, so I could help others who felt the same as I had. So I achieved my level 2 Fitness Instructor and Level 3 Personal Training Qualifications. I am also working on Level 4 and have attended further skilled courses such as TRX training and Optimum Nutrition. I started to look deeper into my own journey with food, weight loss obsession and sought help for an eating disorder.
Recovery is hard and ongoing and is a huge part of my journey that I want to share so that I can help others. I am no longer focused so much on the way I look and instead have turned my attention to practising body confidence, self love, food freedom and to move my body for health instead of an aesthetic goal. I am focusing on building my own experiences and also learning through studying a variety of short courses so that I can further my skills and pass on my knowledge.
So now I want to help you, No matter what your goal is. No matter how long you are on the journey, I’ll be there. Celebrating your wins, cheering you on, picking you up when you fall and giving you the knowledge you need to become a better you. It is ok to have an aesthetic goal, to want to lose or gain weight or muscle, but it is MORE important to have a health, performance and happiness goal. As we work together on YOUR journey you will learn to appreciate your body for all it does for you and not just how it looks.
